NYSTCE Bilingual Education Assessments

The NYSTCE Bilingual Education Assessment measures your knowledge according to the New York State Academic Standards. Success on this test indicates that you are qualified to teach in both English and another language in the New York State public school system. The test content is drawn from these subareas: Foundations of Bilingual Education (22% of the exam); Listening Comprehension in English (13%); Listening Comprehension in the Target Language (13%); Reading Comprehension in the Target Language (13%); Written Expression in the Target Language (13%); Oral Expression in English (13%); and Oral Expression in the Target Language (13%). Bilingual Education Assessments are offered for, Arabic, Bengali, Cantonese, French, Haitian Creole, Hebrew, Korean, Mandarin, Polish, Russian, Spanish, Urdu, Vietnamese, and Yiddish. The tests consist of approximately 70 multiple-choice questions, a written expression assignment, and two oral expression assignments.
